Including three full HD 1080p sets, the LT-42P789 features JVC's TeleDock, a flip-down iPod dock at the base of the set, providing a direct connection for playback through the TV.When an iPod is docked, a menu appears on the TV screen for selecting music, music shuffle or video playback. iPod can be controlled from the TV's remote, which includes a circular keypad with a control scheme that mimics the iPod's control wheel. Photos can also be displayed as a slide show along with music. During music playback, song title and artist name are displayed on the TV screen. During video playback, low resolution files, such as Internet videos, can be displayed in a small screen mode. Higher resolution video can be shown in nine aspect modes at full screen. There's also the option to play music files while the TV displays television programming. In addition, the iPod will charge while docked whether the TV's power is on or off.Besides the iPod dock and playback features, JVC's P-Series LCD TVs are full featured high definition displays with a cabinet design that conveys the sets' focus on both audio and video performance. Each features a universal remote with direct input access, a on-screen menu system, a side-mounted USB photo viewer, and ATSC / QAM tuning.Connections include three HDMI inputs, two component inputs, one S-video input, SPDIF input and an analog audio output for sending sound from an iPod or the TV through a home theater system.The sound package delivers 10 watts per channel to a pair of JVC's exclusive oblique cone speakers. Great TV
Found this TV at Circuit City for 799 (sale is now over). I have had the TV for a week. I also have a 50 Samsung Plasma, both on HD. The JVC has a better picture on both regular and HD channels. I like the Ipod feature. You need to play with the sound equalizer to get the best quality out of an Ipod without a sound system. Ipod video is fair.
Pros: Picture quality - HD and SD, integration of Ipod, sound is above avg from built in speakers (after tweaking settings).
Cons: Remote does not completely control DVR cable box, manual not clear on initial connection setting particularly for component cables on accessories (requires using the remote in a way that is not obvious).
I would buy this TV again.
Nice TV - Ipod functionality limited
The TV is great...on its own. I am totally impressed with the TV. I have to confess the Ipod Teleport is not that great, at least to me. You can't toggle playlists and you can't listen to the Ipod in TV mode. To switch playlists you have to manually do that on the ipod. I think this is a seriously flaw. Who the heck wants to have to walk up and toggle to switch playlists. Also your play list will not show up on the screen so you have to push forward to get to other songs. As I write this, I am higly disappointed with the Ipod function. If you are buying for this reason, please don't. If you are buying this for the TV, then ok. But the Ipod dock SHOULD NOT be your determing factor.
JVC 42" 1080p review
Great Picture with 1080p & 1080i the 480 is just as good as the others, I also have a samsung 40" and a sharp 42" and for the price 1095.00 and free shipping its a better tv. I gave it a 4 star because I have not tried the ipod docking station.
